Biography
Mr. Van Maren received a Bachelor of Science degree in Landscape Architecture from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. He’s been a registered landscape architect in Arizona since 1987.
He’s always found inspiration in the sculptural forms of the desert. “After a great post graduate year working in Palm Desert, I came to Tucson and just fell in love with the Sonoran desert: the mesquites, the cacti and the rain,” he says. “It’s had a very strong influence on the development of my personal aesthetic.”
“I feel the environment of a specific landscape project or a work of art, as a dynamic meeting ground of space/form/color. All this plus the drama of human engagement. The visible forms can vary quite a bit, but the passion of that meeting place is always at the core of what I do and who I am.”
